Research Quality Advisory: Quality Analysis


This pilot guide lists information resources on scholarly publication metrics, research quality methodology, and research quality. Note. The guide is under construction and new information is added. 

  Quality Analysis 

 

  • Bibliometrics - “application of various statistical analyses to study patterns of authorship, publication, and literature use” (Lancaster, 1977).
  • Citizen bibliometrics - conducted by researchers and other individuals using Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar and other databases to assess the publication and citation, impact factor, h-index of induvial researchers 
  • Professional bibliometrics - bibliometric analysis conducted by professional specialists in bibliometrics using bibliometric software to analyze published articles in Web of Science, Scopus, and other databases to assess the field-normalized indicators of research organizations
  • Scientometrics - measurement of science and technology (Moed, 2005).
