Literature Review: Scopring Review Overview

The Literature Review and Scoping Review information guides list a starting resources on designing and conducting a literature review. This information guide also provides information on collaboration and authorship of reviews with librarians.

Goals of a Scoping Review


  • Identify evidence per studied research or clinical science field.
  • Study concepts and definitions in the research or clinical field.
  • Explore empirical research conducted in a specialty or field.
  • Explore the concept and identify all associated factors.
  • Identify and assess research gaps.
  • Exploratory review prior to systematic review
