Literature Review: Collaboration & Authorship

The Literature Review and Scoping Review information guides list a starting resources on designing and conducting a literature review. This information guide also provides information on collaboration and authorship of reviews with librarians. 

Selected Books 

Dr. Tmanova initiated the Literature Review Consulting (LRC) to enhance GME post-graduate trainees involvement in academic research to enhance the quality of literature reviews and publication. LRC expanded research support by including scoping review by 

  • consulting on literature review methodology, critical appraisal, synthesis, writing, and publication
  • co-authoring a literature review

To co-author on a scoping review with librarian, please submit the Scoping Review Co-Authorship Contract

Librarian collaborating with researchers, as a review co-author, provides guidance on planning a literature review, review question and design of literature search, literature analysis and synthesis, and writing a literature review article. The information support offered are following on: 

Planning Literature Review
  • Consulting and guidance on writing a literature review
  • Consulting on the literature review writing process.
  • Exploring published reviews on a potential topic for a literature review.
  • Consulting on a selection of journals for publication.
  • Identify information on journal submission guidelines.
Literature Search
  • Consult on the identification of literature resources and electronic literature search databases.
  • Consult with the development of the topic for a literature review.
  • Consult on the development of a literature search strategy and design.
  • Consult on the conduct of literature reviews in electronic databases and literature management.
  • Design the literature search 
  • Conducts the literature search in search databases
  • Write literature search methodology for inclusion into abstract and article
Literature Analysis and Synthesis
  • Consult on literature analysis and synthesis (published research, theories, and concepts).
  • Consult on citation management and citation styles.
  • Provides assistance with citation management using EndNote 
  • Collaborate with research team on literature evaluation 
Writing a Literature Review
  • Consult on writing the review outline.
  • Consult on writing a draft of a literature review.
  • Consult on editing the literature reviews and submissions for publication.

Note: Librarians are collaborating in conducting a literature reviews and co-author review articles.
