Introduction to Research and Scholarly Communication
Feb 25 - May 5, 2:00 pm -3:00 pm

This elective course consisting of 5 modules provides a solid foundation for designing research in clinical sciences and sharing research findings with healthcare scholars and providers. The course is built on the fundamental theories and concepts of information sciences and knowledge management. Attendees will learn to formulate a hypothesis or develop a research question for designing a study in clinical medicine or healthcare. The course discusses the methods and tools to review literature, manage citations, and collaborative writing. A component of the course is the course project to review the literature, identify research gaps, and design the research study. Learners will develop knowledge and skills in the literature review, academic writing, and ethics of scholarly communication.

AI Literacy and Ethics
Mar 30, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This lecture introduces the principles of Artificial Intelligence (AI) ethics and literacy to improve digital literacy in graduate medical education. AI technology and tools utilized for the exploration of information and literature ecosystems will be discussed. Additionally, biases inherent in AI tools will be discussed, particularly in the context of navigating and assessing AI-retrieved resources such as articles and citations. The lecture will also address the ethical use and application of AI tools in the exploration of published literatures within these information ecosystems. Postgraduate trainees will obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for ethical decision-making and research. Ultimately, this course will enhance trainees’ understanding of AI ethics and literacy

All DML library classes requires registration. This course registration is at DML class registration.
